On the morning of November 1st, children walk from door to door asking for cookies. There are traditions that we like to keep and this one is one of them. But this tradition is falling apart each year that passes by and the cookies have been replaced by another treats bought in any supermarket and given to a very few children..Every year, only 2 or 3 children knock on my door and I give what I used to like most to received: the coffee breads! Some I ate when I was younger were very stale, but I did love the flavour..! Nowadays I make them following the same recipe everytime and the trick is let them very little time in the oven so they don't dry very much.

I made some today because we feel like with this cooler weather, but I will repeat on the October 31..!
Ingredientes:
700 g açúcar amarelo
500 ml café
500 ml água
20 g erva doce
40 g canela
200 g nozes moídas
500 ml azeite
4 colheres sopa mel
1 kg farinha

Adicionar a farinha e misturar bem.
Deixar arrefecer.

Ingredients:
700 g yellow sugar
500 ml coffee
500 ml water
20 g anise
40 g cinnamon
200 g grounded walnuts
500 ml olive oil
4 spoons honey
1 kg flour

Instructions:
Boil all the ingredients, but the flour and take off the flame.
Add the flour and mix well.
Let cool down.
Make the coffee breads (by hand) on the size you want and put the oven, on a baking tray greased with olive oil, just to dry a little, about 20 minutes.
Wrap them up still hot in sugar.
Bom apetite!

This recipe I share with you results in a very large quantity of coffee breads..! This image corresponds to what belongs to us (a third). The other two parts were given to my mother and to my mother-in-law. Bon appetite!
