Traditional Christmas Tree

Muito obrigada do fundo do coração pelas vossas mensagens de felicitações..! OBriGADa!!! Não vos conheço pessoalmente mas acreditem que me sinto cada vez mais ligada a cada uma de vocês. Irei certamente partilhar os momentos bons (e menos bons..) desta gravidez, sem cair na tentação de vos aborrecer em cada post que faça. O Pés de Lã continuará a ser sobre crochet..!

Thank you from the heart for your congratulations messages..! ThANk YOu!!! I don't know you in person but believe me I feel so connected to you all. I will certainly share the good moments (and the not so good..) of this pregnancy, without falling in temptation of bore you on every post I'll write. Pés de Lã will continue to be about crochet..!

E falando em crochet, já adiantei o casaco de torcidos..como a lã escura não chegava para a frente completa (e fazia apenas as mangas mais claras), e a ideia de fazer em riscas acabaria por dar um efeito diferente ao que pretendia, tive mesmo que optar por fazer tudo mais claro com os punhos escuros.

And speaking about crochet, I've allready managed with the cable jacket..the dark yarn wasn't enough to make the entire front (and so I would make the sleeves in light yarn), and the idea of the stripes would give a different effect to what I wanted, so I had to chose making all of it in lighter yarn with darker wrists.

Penso que vai ficar bonito na mesma...se calhar até mais bonito do que se fosse todo na mesma cor.

I guess it will be perfect anyway..probably more than it was made all in the same colour.

Por cá o Natal continua a ser esperado, ontem foi a vez de decorarmos a nova árvore de Natal. Este ano comprámos uma para a sala, bem grande e vistosa, talvez demasiado para o espaço disponível..Mas é só nesta altura do ano e agrada-nos tanto ver os olhinhos dos pequenitos a brilhar com as decorações e as luzes..!

Yesterday we decorate our new Christmas tree. This year we bought one for the living room, very big, maybe too much for the available space.. But it is only this time of the year and we enjoy those twinkly eyes of our babies looking at the lights and the decors..!

Como já tenho mostrado nalgumas fotos, as divisões da minha casa são de cores diferentes..sim a sala é vermelha. Já viram o atelier (que está no escritório) que é verde lima; a marquise/cozinha que são cor-de-laranja e o quarto dos bebés em amarelo. Sempre 2 paredes de cor e outras 2 em creme. Na altura que comprei a casa, a minha intenção foi mesmo esta. Já lá vão 6 anos e garanto-vos que ainda não estou cansada. O único senão é que tenho que limitar algumas cores na decoração. Mas também vos digo: na nossa (futura!!) casinha de campo terei a casa toda branca! Obviamente que me farto mais depressa por ser tão monótono, mas permitir-me-á fazer as mudanças que quiser..!

As I've been showing on some photos, the rooms of my house are with different colours..yes the living room is red. You saw the craft room (is in the office) is in lime green; the kitchen is orange and the babies's room is in yellow. Allways 2 walls in colour the other 2 in cream. By the time I bought this house, this was really my intention. It's been 6 years and I assure you I'm not tired of it yet. The only desadvantage is the decoration is limited by the colour. But I also assure you: on our (future!!) country home it will be all in white! Obviously I will get tired of it more quickly because it is so tedious, but it will allow me to make the changes I want..!

O melhor presente de Natal que eu podia ter recebido..!

Olá a todos! Como vão vocês? Eu tenho andado um pouco calada, meio introspectiva..tenho visitado alguns blogs vossos mas o meu espírito continuou fechado. Esperei uns dias para vir fazer este post para colocar as minhas ideias em ordem e conseguir voltar à rotina depois de um misto de emoções bastante grande. 

A minha desmotivação por falta de lãs e não conseguir continuar as ofertas de Natal acabou por dar lugar a uma irritabilidade e sensibilidade (normalíssimas nos dias que antecedem a menstruação). Passei por uma fase de muita fome e, mais tarde, comecei a ter indisposições. Como andar maldisposta nunca foi hábito meu, decidi fazer um teste de gravidez. Deu positivo :) E nós felizes! Apesar de andarmos a tentar, nunca esperámos que acontecesse tão cedo (4ªtentativa), pois sempre tivemos alguma dificuldade em conseguir logo. Mas este é um assunto que falarei mais tarde..! Agora resta ter esperança que desta vez corra MESMO TUDO bem..! E vai correr concerteza.

Hi everyone! How are you? I've been a little bit quiet, introspective..I've been visiting some of your blogs but my spirit remained closed. I waited for a few days to come here and write this post to get my ideas in order and be able to come back to my routine after a very big emotional charge.

My lack of inspiration for not having yarn to continue my Christmas gifts was substituted by an irritability and sensitivity (very normal in days before period). There was a phase that a have so much hungry and, later, I started to feel indisposed. This was never a habit of mine, so I decided to take a pregnacy test. It was positive :) And we were happy! We were trying but we never expected it happen so soon (4th try), because we allways had some difficulty to get pregnant. But I'll write about it later..! Now I'll pray to this time it goes ALL REALLY fine..! And it will I'm sure.

Bom, por aqui o Natal já chegou a um cantinho da nossa casa, deixem-me mostrar-vos a nossa árvore mais pequena (a outra será decorada na sala possivelmente amanhã..).

O cheirinho a Natal já se começou a sentir na minha cozinha quando o G. e eu fizemos estas bolachas de gengibre. E que boas que estavam..!

From my kitchen we could smell yummi ginger cookie Christmas that were made by G. and me. And they were very good..!

E finalmente já tenho lãs! Só que estou com um problema..! A cor que eu precisava não havia em quantidade suficiente para acabar o casaco, e o dono da loja não consegue que elas cheguem antes do Natal, pois vêm da Alemanha. Não vou querer oferecer depois do Natal, nem desmanchar o que já fiz. Optei por trazer uma cor mais clara. Tenho as costas feitas falta a frente e as mangas. O que faço? Intercalo as cores às riscas, faço os punhos escuros e o resto clarinho....? Alguém tem sugestões?

And finally I have yarn! But I'm in a problem..! There was not enough yarn with the colour I needed  to finish the jacket, and the owner of the shop can't get more before Christmas because they come from Germany. I don't want to offer it after Christas, neither undo it. I bought a lighter colour. The back are done, now I'll have to do the front and both sleeves. What do I do? Make stripes, make the fists dark and the rest in white..? Someone has a suggestion?

Making Crochet Cables, FPtrs, FPdcs and BPdcs

O casaco que estou a fazer já vai tomando forma a pouco e pouco e, se ao início era complicado, agora já decorei o padrão e avanço mais rapidamente. Não me canso deste crochet..! É tão viciante! Com as instruções em Inglês e o nível de dificuldade intermédio, achei que seria fácil fazê-lo, embora nunca tivesse feito ainda os torcidos em crochet. Pois..! Quando inicio o trabalho, deparo-me com a quase totalidade dele em FPdc (Front Post double crochet) e em BPdc (Back Post double crochet). Ou seja, pontos altos à frente e atrás, que dão ao trabalho uma ilusão de relevo. Acrescida a dificuldade em fazer os torcidos, que são em FPtr (Front Post treble crochet), não consegui pregar olho enquanto não atinasse com o padrão correctamente. 

The jacket I'm making is gaining shape little by little and, at first was so complicated, now I understand the pattern and don't have the need to follow instructions. I can't get enough of it..! It's so addictive! With english instructions and intermediate skill level, I though it would be easy to make, although I'd never done cables before. Yeah right..! When I start this crochet, I realize it is in its majority in FPdc (Front Post double crochet) and in BPdc (Back Post double crochet).These will make an ilusion of high and bas-relief. Increased the difficulty to make the cables, that are in FPtr (Front Post treble crochet), I couldn't manage to sleep while I didn't understand perfectly this pattern.

Já estava familiarizada com os FPdc e BPdc quando fiz o pullover castanho e experimentei nas bolas de Natal de maneira a fazer atravessar uma linha pelo meio.

I was familiar with FPdc and BPdc when I made the brown pullover and I tried also on the Christmas balls to pass through a thread.

Então como fazer estes dois pontos? Simples. São pontos altos normais, apenas se começam na ligação entre cada ponto, em vez de começarem no centro. FP à frente; BP atrás. Confuso? Por imagens então:

So how can we make these two stitches? Simple. They are regular dc, starting between the two previous stitches, instead th center of them. FP in the front; BP in the back. Confused? Let's see with images shall we:

1. FPdc: Na imagem vêem-se os pontos altos feitos ao centro. Agora vamos fazer 6 FPdc.

1. FPdc: In the image you see dc already made. Now we'll make 6 FPdc.

2. Começar na ligação entre os dois pontos; a agulha irá ficar na horizontal. Passar a agulha pela frente do primeiro ponto, dar a volta e entrar atrás do segundo ponto. Continuar como um ponto alto normal.

2. Start between the two stitches; the needle will be on the horizontal way. Pass the needle in the front of first st, go around and enter behind the second st. Continue as a regular dc.

3. Feitos os 6 pontos altos à frente!
3. 6 FPdc done!

4. Agora os BPdc. Vêem a diferença do avesso do trabalho? Os pontos altos estão feitos, vamos agora fazer os pontos altos atrás.

4. Now the BPdc. Can you see the difference of the backwards? The dc are done, let's make the BPdc.

5. Começar na ligação entre os dois pontos; a agulha irá ficar na horizontal. Passar a agulha por trás do primeiro ponto, dar a volta e entrar à frente do segundo ponto. Continuar como um ponto alto normal.

5. Start between the two stitches; the needle will be on the horizontal way. Pass the needle in the back of first st, go around and enter on the front of the second st. Continue as a regular dc.

6. Feitos os 6 pontos altos atrás!
6. 6 BPdc done!

Vejamos então a diferença entre a parte direita do trabalho (alto relevo pois tem os FPdc) e o avesso (baixo relevo pois tem os BPdc):

Os torcidos..bem...deram-me dores de cabeça! E são tão simples como fazer um ponto alto mais alto ainda de maneira a trabalhar por trás dele. Os tr (treble crochet) não são nada mais nada menos que um ponto alto triplo. Já os tenho feito aqui nesta flor (branco):

The cables..well..they gave me a headhake! And they are so simple as making a dc even taller so we can work behind them. The tr (treble crochet) are just a triple dc. I've been making a lot of these on this flower (white):

Então como se fazem os torcidos? Vou tentar explicar o melhor que conseguir, uma vez que é bastante confuso..!

So how can we make the cables? I will try to explain the best I can because it's quite messy..!

1. Vamos fazer à mesma os 6 pontos. Vão ser 6 tr (triplos) à frente (FP). Buscar 2 vezes a lã (3 loops na agulha).

1. Let's make 6 stitches. They will be 6 tr (treble) on the front (FP). Yarn over twice (3 loops in the needle).

2. Saltar os 3 primeiros pontos e começar no 4ºponto como FP.
2. Skip the first 3 stitches and start on the 4th st as a FP.

3. Puxar a linha, buscar novamente e passar pelos primeiros 2 loops da agulha. (1ªvez)

3. Yarn over, pass the st, yarn over and pass the first 2 loops on the needle. (1st time)

4.Buscar novamente a lã e passar pelos 2 primeiros loops da agulha. (2ªvez)
4. Yarn over and pass the first 2 loops on the needle. (2nd time)

5.Buscar novamente a lã e passar pelos 2 primeiros loops da agulha. (3ªvez)
5. Yarn over and pass the first 2 loops on the needle. (3rd time)

Feito o primeiro tr, fazer os próximos 2.
First tr done, make the next 2.

Para fazer o torcido temos que voltar então para os pontos que saltámos anteriormente..! Aqui torna-se imprescindível a altura dos tr, para podermos trabalhar nos de trás.

To make the cables, we have to go back to the skipped stitches..! This is when the height of the tr is very important so we can be abble to work behinfd them. 

Estou a gostar bastante do trabalhar neste casaco, não pela peça em si, mas para aprender a fazer novos pontos/efeitos e perceber no que eu posso vir um dia a usar em criações minhas, mais coloridas e mais divertidas..! Quadro de Cortiça

Tenho um quadro de cortiça por cima da minha mesa do atelier que, desde que o comprei, a minha intenção sempre foi forrá-lo com tecido. Ontem à noite, ao visitar alguns blogs de que gosto, finalmente vi um post que me deu a motivação que me faltava para acabar com esta procrastinação..! Tão simples e tão rápido que fiz hoje de manhã, depois de umas fotos dos progressos dos meus WIPs.

I have a notice board on the top of my craft room's table which, since I bought it, my intention was allways to cover it with fabric. Last night, while visiting some of my favourite blogs, I finally saw a post that gave me the motivation I needed to end this procrastination..! So simple and so quick to make that I made it this morning, after a few photos of my WIPs's progress.

A minha manta vai começando a ganhar volume..! Já me adaptei ao ponto novo que estou a aplicar - ponto peruano - e resulta num efeito muito bonito..! O casaco, esse sim, deu-me algumas dores de cabeça para seguir as instruções e conseguir fazer o efeito torcido. Mas, como tudo, quando se sabe, torna-se fácil. Nos próximos posts falarei detalhadamente acerca de cada um destes projectos..!

My blanket is gaining volume..! I'm completely adapted to the new stitch I'm using - peruvian stitch crochet - and it makes a beautiful effect..! The cable jacket, for its turn, gave me a few headhakes to follow the instructions and be abble to work the cables perfectly. But, like everything in life, when you know, it becomes easy. In the next posts I'll write the details about each one of these projects..!

Agora vou conhecer a bebé da minha amiga R. que já nasceu há duas semanas..! Agora que já estão as duas em casa e a família já conhece a pequenina é a minha vez de a ir ver e de lhe levar esta manta de shells e esta de quadrados! Até ao próximo post! Andreia

Creative Boom!

Tenho andado no mesmo lufa-lufa de sempre: acordar cedo, preparar pequenos-almoços, vestir e arranjar os bebés, lavar-lhes os dentes, levar o G. à creche (nos dias em que não chove a C. também vai, quando chove fica na avó). Chegar a casa, lavar loiça, limpar chão, fazer as camas, passar a ferro, limpar o pó e aspirar. Cozinhar. Almoçar e dar o almoço à C. Lavar a loiça, arrumar a cozinha e pôr a C. a fazer a sesta. Sentar-me finalmente no meu sofá e fazer um pouco de crochet. Acordar a C. para irmos buscar o mano. Se estiver bom tempo, vamos passear. Quando chegamos a casa, podem imaginar a continuação do meu lufa-lufa (à noite dedico-me mais a eles, dar banhos, brincar), que só acaba perto das 22h, quando a casa está em silêncio e então eu crocheto até à 1h..! Tão bom!

I've been busy as allways: wake up early, prepare breakfasts, dress up the babies, wash their teeth, take G. to school (when doesn't rain, C. also goes; otherwise she stays at grandma's home). Arrive at home, wash the dishes, clean the floor, make the beds, iron, clean the dust and vaccum. Cook. Have lunch and give lunch to C. Wash the dishes, clean up the kitchen and put C. to take a nap. Finally sit down on my couch and crochet a little. Wake up C. so we can go pick up G. at school. If the weather is fine, we go on a walk. When we arrive home, you can imagine my busy afternoon/night (at night I give them baths, play), it only ends around 22h, when the house is in complete silence and I can crochet until 1 o'clock..! So good!

Hoje foi um dia em que fomos dar um passeio. A luz do Sol permanece cada vez menos tempo e os passeios tornam-se mais escassos..

Today we go on a walk. There is a decreasing sunlight everyday and so the walks are getting more and more scarce..

Parecia não estar desagradável, mas o pouco vento que fazia era muito frio.

It seemed to be a pleasant day, but the little wind was so cold.

Encontrei por acaso uma bolota. Já não apanhava uma bolota do chão há tantos anos. Quando dei por mim, estava a procurar outra.. Ao meu lado o G. também olhava para o chão. Mais à frente o marido também ficou contagiado..! Não apanhámos muitas mais. Tenho a certeza de que a C. se fosse mais velha, também nos tinha acompanhado.

I found a acorn by accident. I don't remind when was the last time a found one. When I look to myself, I was looking for another. By my side, G. also was lookind at the ground. In front, my husband was looking too..! We didn't find much more. I'm sure if C. was a little bit older, she had made us company.

Nestes dias últimos dias, para além dos afazeres de casa e de tomar conta dos dois pequenos, tenho conseguido escolher cores, texturas e padrões para alguns dos projectos que tinha em mente..! Apenas tive tempo de começar alguns mas a confusão já se instalou na minha mesa!

On these last few days, besides to house keeping and taking care of two young children, I've managed to choose the colours, the textures and the patterns for some projects I had in mind..! I started some of them but the mess has installed on my table!

A minha primeira manta de sofá (oferta de Natal)..Vai incluir pontos que já conheço e um outro que vou fazer pela primeira vez. Vai ser em branco, amarelo, azul e verde.

My first couch blanket (Christmas gift)..it will include stitches I allready know and another one I'll make for the first time. It will be white, yellow, blue and green.

Gostei tanto de fazer este pullover que decidi fazer outra peça de vestuário para homem, desta vez um casaco (mais uma oferta de Natal). A lã que estou a usar em nada se parece com o acrílico (que eu já me habituei e é mais suave). Esta é um pouco áspera, mas irá dar um casaco bastante quente.

I enjoyed so much doing this pullover that I decided to make another men's clothing, this time a jacket (another Christmas gift). The wool I'm using have no comparison with acrylic (which I am accostumed and is more soft). This one is a little bit rough, but it will make a nice and warm jacket.

Estive também a fazer os meus próprios padrões para a decoração de Natal. Não é fácil. Depois de acabados são simples de executar, mas ao longo do processo, é um faz e desmancha inacreditável. Fiquei a admirar ainda mais os criadores dos amigurumis. Estas decorações tinham que ser especiais, tinham que ter mais de mim, tinham que ter mais do Pés de Lã. Porquê? Sim, adivinharam...estes são apenas uma parte do que vou enviar para uma de vocês..! Daqui por uns dias lanço um desafio!

I've been making my own patterns for Christmas decoration. It's not easy. when finished they are quite simple to do, but during the process, it's an unbeliavable do-undo. After that I admire more the amigurumis's creators. These decorations had to be special, had to have more of me, had to be more of Pés de Lã. Why? Yes, you guessed..these are just a part of what I'm sending to one of you..! In a few days I'll throw a challenge!
